Letters

Letters are an effective mechanism in direct marketing due to their personal touch and presence. They also serve as a tool for transactional or operation communications, providing a formal and dependable way to deliver important information that cuts through the noise of digital channels.

IMS supports two standards of letters: 8.5x11" and 8.5x14"

During onboarding these types of specifications below are discussed. Check out our Letter Template to see more.

Layout dimensions & specifications

8.5x11" letters

IMS offers 8.5 x 11" letters in both color and black & white. These documents can be printed simplex (single sided) or duplex (both sides). Letters and checks with 8 or less tri-folded sheets of paper will be sent out in a standard #10 single-windowed outer envelope. Letters and checks over 9 sheets of paper but not exceeding 15 will be mailed in a standard 6 x 9" single-windowed outer envelope. Letters and checks from 16 to 60 sheets will be mailed in a flat envelope.

Please see our design templates, which detail the specific locations for the design elements for letters. Take careful note of the automation markings and address location.

Note: The QR code and HR (Human Readable) code on the piece is there for automation purposes to maintain quality standards during the production process. This data matrix type 2D barcode encodes information for sorting, tracking, and delivery. Recipients attempts to scan this code won't direct anywhere. Typically they appear in the left margin of the front of each sheet, though some applications may have it placed differently based on requirements.
